Recipients

Monroe County Education Foundation has provided 184 scholarships since 2004. Our recipients range from high school seniors continuing their educational journey to adults restarting their educational pursuits later in life. 

Below you can meet some of our recipients and learn about how a Monroe County Education Foundation scholarship supported their goals.

Ann Marie Jackson Seavey
Leona Lynch Kessel Memorial Scholar, 2012

Current Occupation:

Dentist

Monroe County Education Foundation's Leona Lynch Kessel Memorial Scholarship supported Ann Marie's undergraduate studies at West Virginia Wesleyan, which paved the way for her dental education and career. Today she is an associate dentist in Morgantown, WV.

Devon Dransfield
Charles & Mildred Allen 4-H Memorial Scholar, 2017

Current Occupation:

Commercial Beef & Poultry Farmer

Devon grew up farming with his family in Gap Mills and the Charles & Mildred Allen 4-H Memorial Scholarship supported his formal agriculture education at Virginia Tech. Today he is a successful business owner and farmer in Greenville, VA.

Carilion Giles Community Hospital Scholar, 2013

Current Occupation:

Physical Therapist & Business Owner

A life-long resident of Monroe County, Kelsie was interested in a career that would allow her to serve and give back to her community. The Carilion Giles Community Hospital Scholarship supported Kelsie's studies at WVU, kicking off a career path that enables her to provide physical therapy services to youth in Monroe, Mercer, Greenbrier and Summers counties.
