Ready to Support a Legacy of Learning?

The Monroe County Education Foundation is primarily funded by the generous contributions of Monroe County residents, businesses and organizations. We currently manage more than 20 named scholarships supported by over $500,000 in endowed funds.

Whether you're interested in supporting a one-time scholarship or establishing a long-term one, there are a number of ways to donate. We welcome you to explore ways to give below. If you have questions or would like more information, feel free to contact us to discuss more.

One-Time Donation

Want to support learners, but not ready to name a specific scholarship? No problem. We accept one-time donations to support existing scholarships or a one-time scholarship with no minimum donation.

If you're ready, you can click "donate now" below to make your donation today. If you have any questions or need help, please contact Laura Rice at mcefwv@gmail.com or 304-646-2423.

Endow a Scholarship

Leave a lasting legacy for yourself, your family or your business with a donation of $10,000 or more. With a named scholarship, you create the criteria for the award and make an irrevocable donation to MCEF in order to fund the scholarship.

MCEF then provides oversight for scholarship funds, including the application and selection process according to the criteria you establish. The recipient of your scholarship is selected by MCEF based on your established criteria, ensuring your wishes are met. Our selection committee meets in April and May, and scholarships are announced in conjunction with the James Monroe High School Awards Day Ceremony in late May.

We never spend the principal donation. Instead we distribute income from investments as scholarships to Monroe County residents.

Named scholarships require a minimum donation of $10,000, which can be made over several years. Once your scholarship fund is producing sufficient financial returns (see "Our Financial Approach" for more details), you can begin awarding your scholarship in the next application cycle.
